5 Tips to Bring Warmth into your Kitchen for Winter
By Stylist Steph Powell

Light

Lighting can make a huge impact on the look and feel of your kitchen. Opt for warm white bulbs and use a very low watt to create a more intimate dining zone. Pendant lights are easy to update above a kitchen island bench or dining table. For winter consider using smoked glass, brass or terracotta pendant shades.

Materials

Visually add warmth to your kitchen using richly toned materials. Timbers, from oak to walnut, update your bar stools, a decorative bowl or platter and keep beautiful chopping boards out on display. Brass accessories are great at adding a finishing touch to your kitchen, from trivets, to spoons, cabinetry handles and trays.

Texture

Add a cosy element with texture. Layer up a dining table using a decorative jute table runner, or try a tray full of candles in different heights. Cushions and bench seats can instantly soften benches and bar stools. A large jute rug positioned under a dining table can add warmth underfoot – opt for a close weave design for easy manoeuvring of your dining chairs.

Fragrance

Scent can dramatically change your kitchen, opt for spicy, woody and amber notes in the winter months. Clove & Sandalwood by Palm Beach Candles is a beautiful option for winter.

Foliage

When it comes to flowers in your kitchen, think outside the box. Foliage is very on trend, look for a beautiful woody tree branch with coloured leaves or berries and don’t be afraid to play with rich colours and textures.
