When homeowners Ciara and Tony bought their dream home in Mosman, a harbourside suburb in Sydney, they knew they wanted to renovate the house in a number of rooms to make it their own. First on the list was the kitchen- with a brief to reimagine the existing kitchen into a light and bright Hamptons-inspired space which would allow them to entertain and become a hub for their family within their home. Enter Freedom Kitchens! We worked with Ciara and Tony to bring their dream kitchen into reality.

Read on to discover all the details of this beautiful transformation!

Before.

To create a light, bright Hamptons-inspired kitchen that works for this family of three, who love to eat as a family as well as to entertain at home. The inclusion of plenty of accessible storage, a larger pantry and an island bench were paramount.

After.

The style.

A light and bright, all-white was the colour palette of choice for this seaside kitchen. Awash with natural light thanks to two windows, cabinetry in Sierra Classic White Matt, with its traditional Shaker-profile shines in this space. Our Satin Dimple Knob handles pair beautifully with the Shaker joinery, lending themselves effortlessly to the Hamptons look Ciara and Tony love. “I think a neutral colour scheme has longevity, explains Ciara. “However, I simply love how an all-white colour palette looks so we were always going to choose it!”

In keeping with the Hamptons theme, marble-look countertops were a must. The couple opted for 20mm thick benchtops in Caesarstone® Frosty Carrina, which features a blend of broad warm, and fine delicate grey veins that sweep across a soft white base. A simple splashback runs along the area above the sink, the white embellished tiles adding texture while still within the white colour scheme.

Storage.

The kitchen layout has been redesigned into a L-shaped design, providing generous storage thanks to a thoughtful mixture of drawers and cupboards, as well as an island bench. A large double pantry sits within the tall joinery next to the fridge and ovens, and includes drawers within to allow easy access throughout the whole space. The cabinet next to the pantry provides the ideal space to store smaller kitchen appliances such as a kettle and toaster so as to keep the countertop free from clutter.

Cupboards run along the back wall, providing additional storage as well as space for the dishwasher as well as two of Freedom Kitchens’ Ninka Bins. Smaller details such as spice racks and internal wire pull-outs under the sink and within pantries ensures that every part of this kitchen works hard while looking great.

Island Bench.

An island bench was at the top of the list for the Ciara and Tony. “We wanted an island that we could have guests sit around whilst we’re cooking, explains Ciara. We also wanted it to work as a breakfast bar for family in the morning.” A Bosch Induction Hob with integrated ventilation has been included in the island’s design, ensuring that preparing meals are social whether dining as a family or hosting guests.

Measuring just over 2.5 metres long, the island has been topped with matching Caesarstone® Frosty Carrina, and has been extended to allow comfortable seating. It also provides a plethora of additional storage, including six drawers and two cupboards. The inclusion of a powerpoint at one end means that Ciara and Tony can also use the bench as casual work zone.

Appliances.

As the couple love to cook and entertain it is no surprise that all the appliances were thoughtfully considered within the design. A French Door Fridge from Fisher & Paykel has been placed next to a Built-in Oven and Warming Drawer (both from Bosch) – perfect for the home chefs. A fully integrated dishwasher sits next to the sink on the back run of cupboards, maintaining a seamless line of Shaker-profile joinery in this section of the kitchen. All these, plus the induction cooktop on the island bench, ensure that cooking is a breeze!

Lighting.

A considered lighting scheme adds to the style and functionality of the kitchen. Three pendants from Beacon Lighting hang above the island bench and ceiling while LED downlights light up other areas of the kitchen. Freedom Kitchen’s Flexy LED Lighting has been placed under all the kickboards, including the island bench, adding ambiance to this beautiful space.

“We’re very happy, smiles Ciara. “I’d recommend Freedom Kitchens for their quality, price point and customer service. The fitting out was amazing, it was great to see the kitchen come together!”
