Scott Cam is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most loved television personalities.  As host of TV hit The Block on Nine, Scott’s laid-back larrikin attitude has won him millions of fans across Australia, as well as a Gold Logie award for his shelf.

A carpenter by trade with a wealth of building experience, he’s helped to guide contestants through 14 seasons of renovating challenges – all of which make his own kitchen renovation seem pretty easy!

Scotty came to Freedom Kitchens to help him create a more modern yet still classic kitchen for his family home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Drawing inspiration from Mediterranean design elements, his U-shaped kitchen with central island bench accommodates an original column within its design, retaining the feel of the original structure of the home.

The cabinetry by Freedom Kitchens features the Sierra door profile in ‘Cinder’ – a stunning charcoal tone which complements the high-end Wolf appliances.  Sections of the overhead cabinets feature stunning glass doors, adding light and classic character.

Contrasting the joinery, his chosen benchtops and splashback showcase the new ‘Caesarstone Excava’ – it features a unique concrete/stone hybrid look which was first seen used in the Challenge Kitchen of this year’s season of The Block Gatwick, adding touches of earthy warmth within its patina.

We asked Scotty for his thoughts on his beautiful new Freedom Kitchen.

FK: What was your inspiration when planning this kitchen?
SC: We wanted to create a family hub. Our previous kitchen was a bit disjointed, so I wanted this space to be a place where the family and friends gathered. It needed to be in keeping with the style of the existing house.

FK: What are your favourite features of the cabinetry?
SC:  The corner cupboards (with LeMans swing-out shelves) are a great utilisation of space, and I love the quality and style of the cabinets with the soft close feature.  We’ve also got nice, big, deep pot drawers that hold all our plates and pots. And the integration of the appliances has come up a treat.

FK: What do you enjoy doing the most in this new kitchen?
SC: I like cooking for the whole family. This new kitchen, with all the new appliances is just perfect for that.
