With Spring and Summer just around the corner, and with many of us spending a lot more time at home, now is the perfect time to create a brand new Freedom Kitchen that connects with the outdoors.

In this blog we take a look at our three favourite ways to bring the great outdoors into your dream kitchen space.

Bi-fold Windows and Doors.

Blessed with beautiful weather, many Australians love to entertain in our outdoor spaces and adding a servery via bi-fold windows is a great way to connect your kitchen to your backyard. As we spend more time at home rather than at restaurants, and whether it’s eating as a family or entertaining guests, bi-fold doors and windows allow you to stay connected with your family or guests outside while cooking in the kitchen, creating a seamless flow between the two spaces.

Design tip: Black-framed windows and doors are an easy, on-trend way to instantly up the sophistication in your kitchen and home.

Natural Colour Palette.

An increasingly popular interior design trend both internationally and locally is the use of colour, particularly natural and nature-inspired schemes. When The Block alumni and hosts of Ready Set Reno, Micheal and Charlene enlisted Freedom Kitchens to transform their kitchen in their forever home, they knew they wanted to be bold with colour.

Colour is very important to Carlene. “I need to live with colour,” she explains. When deciding upon the palette for their kitchen, pantry and laundry, she wanted to draw references from the home’s surrounds. Living among beautiful gum trees, the Impressions Green Slate Flint cabinetry was the perfect choice as it not only brings the outside in, it compliments the rest of the home’s interior. The result is luxurious yet warm and welcoming.

If colour is too bold for you, timber-look cabinetry and benchtops works incredibly well for a range of kitchen styles from modern to Hamptons. Consider cabinetry in Prime Oak, either as a flat profile-style or in one of our new panelled profiles such as Verity, and well as timber-look and feel benchtops in Natural or Tobacco Halifax Oak Streamline from our Premium Laminate range.

Window Splashbacks.

A wonderful alternative to a more traditional splashback, a window splashback brings in plenty of natural light into your kitchen. It also allows you to create a frame of natural beauty that will change and evolve with the seasons and as your plants grow.
