Discover Your Dream Kitchen Colour Palette

Picking the colour palette for your new Freedom Kitchen is an exciting decision to be made at the start of the planning process. However, with so many excellent options to choose from, it can quickly become overwhelming to decide which is the perfect scheme for your kitchen and your home. To take some of the guesswork out, below, we have listed our top 6 palettes to love now and for many years to come. Which is your favourite?

1. All-white.

A timeless classic, an all-white kitchen palette is a perennial favourite in Australian homes, and it’s easy to see why. Creating a neutral blank canvas, white creates the illusion of light and space, even if it’s not readily available. Add texture and interest to your cabinetry by selecting a decorative door panel – we love a shaker, panel-look or vertical-fluted style for a modern yet timeless style.

2. All-black.

The past few years have seen an increase in the popularity of black kitchens. While a bold choice, a black colour palette evokes a sleek, sophisticated and luxuriant feel in your kitchen space. Lending itself to modern and industrial-style homes, layering black materials will create a stunning and inviting kitchen space.

Case in point: the uber-chic and contemporary kitchen we created for Guy and Jules Sebastian’s family home in Sydney (shown above), which features our Alaskan Black Ultramatt joinery with integrated handles for a seamless look.

3. Monochrome.

Can’t decide between an all-white and all-black kitchen? A monochrome colour scheme might be the answer you’re looking for! A true style statement, we love the flexibility of this palette and the fact that you can choose what features in your kitchen you want to highlight.

For instance, in this modern which we created for homeowners Debbie and Roger in their family home in Sydney, lower black cabinetry contrast with the white marble-look island bench and splashbacks made from Caesarstone® Empira White.

4. Coastal.

While escaping to the seaside is not an option for all of us, evoking the relaxed beauty and simplicity of a coastal-inspired kitchen is worth considering. While a Coastal palette can mean several different styles, such as a glamorous white and navy Hamptons-style, we are seeing a rise in kitchens that celebrate a scheme of whites, timber, marble with a hint of metallic.

We love to start with a predominately white base, add timber for warmth, and add a glamour pop with brass or gold accessories and handles. Pay attention to your splashback, as this is the perfect place to inject colour such as blue or green to bring this look to life.

5. Grey.

The ‘new neutral’, grey kitchens evoke a style that is sophisticated and calm. Opt for a soft grey that adds the perfect amount of colour to your room without overpowering it. Grey suits a variety of kitchen styles, meaning that regardless if you love a chic Hamptons look or a more industrial space, it might be the perfect fit for you. Pay close attention to details such as your door profiles and handles, as this will allow you to create your dream look.

6. Green.

One of the hottest trends this year, which will continue for years to come, is natural and organic colours and textures in kitchen finishes and products. Bring the outside in with shades of green, which is precisely what The Block favourite Carlene achieved with her family’s Gold Coast abode. Carlene, who loves colour and incorporates it into all her designs, was drawn to the stunning green shade of our Impressions Green Slate Flint cabinetry as it mirrors the hue of the gumtrees outside. The result is a rich and inviting kitchen that is truly the heart of their home.
