1.Kitchen with island bench.

The island bench has become a kitchen essential, especially in galley-style layouts. It’s more than just a design focal point—it’s a multifunctional hub for seating, socialising, and communal dining.

In fact, we’re seeing a growing trend of kitchen islands replacing formal dining tables altogether. They’re perfect for creating the relaxed, intimate dining experience that many families crave. Plus, an island bench adds valuable storage space, making it a stylish and practical ‘must-have’ for any modern kitchen.

2. The ‘Modern Farmhouse’ style will be seen- A LOT.

Regardless of whether you live in the city or the country, a farmhouse kitchen is a beautiful option if you wish to create a kitchen space that is warm, welcoming and nods to rustic living.

A white kitchen is a classic choice, or you may like to combine cabinetry in warm matte whites, warm greens or blacks to create a look that makes a statement. Use detailed handles, tapware, metallic hardware or kitchen appliances to elevate the look.

3. Embrace ‘Colour Drenching’.

Expect to see this trend everywhere in 2025 and beyond! Colour drenching is all about creating a dramatic, cohesive look by layering similar tones across various elements in a space. It’s a fantastic way to make your kitchen feel more open, calm, and sophisticated.

To achieve this aesthetic, use coordinating colours on your kitchen cupboards, benchtops, wall paint, and décor. Classic shades like blacks and whites remain timeless, while blues, greens, and taupe tones—such as Clay and Sand—are rising in popularity.

4. Consider Biophilia design elements in your kitchen design.

One of our favourite trends this year, this is all about connecting your home with nature – and all the benefits that it brings. In a kitchen, a biophilic design is one that aims to create a space that fosters well-being by integrating aspects of the natural world. This can be done by embracing a natural colour palette – such as greens and timbers- natural light, views out to your outdoor zones, and indoor plants.

5. Warm Neutrals are having a moment.

Move over bright whites, as Off Whites and Taupes are having a moment in interior design! Warm and welcoming, these shades suit a variety of kitchen styles from modern to classic, and pair beautifully with other materials such as timber and will stand the test of time.

6. Embrace timber for warmth & modernity.

A timeless option, timber tones will instantly inject warmth and natural beauty into your space, especially when they’re part of a contemporary, coastal, Mid-Century, or Scandi design. Choose from rich and bold shades such as deep Oaks or softer, lighter shades for modern coastal styles. For a bold look, use timber throughout the entire design, or pair with soft whites- the timber will still take centre stage while not being overly dominant.

7. Connect your kitchen with your outdoor spaces.

Create a seamless connection between your kitchen and garden to foster social engagement and embrace nature. Position your kitchen to flow effortlessly into your outdoor entertaining area, making it ideal for gatherings during the warmer months.

Enhance this space with features like a barbeque or pizza oven to extend your kitchen’s functionality outdoors. This design not only makes entertaining more enjoyable but also reinforces your kitchen as the true heart of your home.

8. Add a Butler’s Pantry or ‘Dirty Kitchen’ to your layout.

If space and budget permit, a butler’s pantry is an entertainers dream come true. Include essential cooking appliances such as ovens and an additional sink, tap, bin and dishwasher into the layout, as well as open shelves and additional bench space. These additions will allow you to do most of your food prep and cleaning away from your central kitchen and guests.

9. Be bold with bronze hardware.

We recommend mixing Bronze-toned handles with other matching hardware such as your tapware and sinks for a cohesive aesthetic.
