Scott Cam’s showstopping laundry and mudroom on The Block 2022!
While the contestants were busy getting through Hellway, we mean Hallway, Laundry and Mudroom Week, Scott Cam and his team were also completing a series of rooms within his homestead. A combined laundry and mudroom space was at the top of the list, with Scotty working with Freedom Kitchens to produce a space that ticks all the boxes.
Concealing the clutter that accumulates with family living, Scotty and his team created a multifunctional laundry and mudroom that provides plenty of storage and style in equal doses. The monochromatic colour palette ties the room with the nearby kitchen, achieved by Shaker-inspired Sierra cabinetry in Black Matt paired with a marble-look Caesarstone® countertops in Aterra Blanca.
Two new handle styles have been included, the matte black Hampton Cups and Diecast Zinc Bars adding texture to enhance the other finishes. A classic white tiled splashback and Federation Capping complete the look which celebrates a modern farmhouse aesthetic.
With a focus on utility, the washing and folding zones have been placed side by side, while keeping cleaning products within easy reach within cupboards. A hanging rail has been placed above the white ceramic Turner Hastings butler sink, allowing for clothes to drip or air dry. Tall storage with hanging space is found at one end, while at the other the Arched Pet Bed from Freedom Kitchens provides the perfect sleeping zone for any beloved fur child- obviously Scotty was thinking of his beloved dog, Frankie, with this addition to the design!
Simple and functional, the mudroom sits within the laundry, offering a comfortable seating bench, and extra concealed wall storage. Hooks allow for easy hanging of coats and bags, while an open shelf and wall cupboards above provide room for extra storage. Open Sierra Black Matt cabinetry below the cushioned bench provide space for shoes which can be concealed within pull-out baskets.
