The Block 2026 Guest Bedroom Week:

The Built-In Wardrobes Behind the First Room Reveals

Every season of The Block begins with a room that sets the tone for everything to come, and in The Block 2026, the pressure was on from day one. With five brand-new teams transforming homes in Mt Eliza, Guest Bedroom Week wasn’t just about impressing the judges- it was about creating spaces that would appeal to buyers in one of Victoria’s most desirable coastal suburbs.

Judge Darren Palmer quickly established this season’s design direction: quiet luxury. Inspired by the calming, minimalist interiors of Kim Kardashian’s Axel Vervoordt-designed home, contestants were encouraged to embrace warm neutrals, layered textures and timeless finishes. The advice was so influential that one team completely abandoned their original concept in favour of a softer, more market-friendly aesthetic- ultimately helping them secure the first room win of the season.

While the styling captured plenty of attention, thoughtfully designed built-in wardrobes played an equally important role. Working alongside all five teams, Freedom Wardrobes created wardrobe solutions that balanced style, functionality and clever bedroom storage, proving that the right wardrobe isn’t just somewhere to store clothes- it’s an integral part of great bedroom design.

If you’re looking for wardrobe ideas inspired by The Block 2026, these guest bedrooms are packed with inspiration. Read on to learn all the details & hear what the judges Shaynna Blaze, Marty Fox and Domain’s Alice Stolz thought!

House 1: Adam & Jolene

Score: 22/30

Place: 2nd

Pale timber-look four-door wardrobe in a modern guest bedroom with a soft fabric bedhead, linen bedding, and neutral pillows.

Adam and Jolene’s guest bedroom embraces warm, welcoming design, with a built-in wardrobe that transforms everyday storage into a standout design feature. Nordic Oak Woodmatt cabinetry paired with bronze hardware creates a relaxed, inviting aesthetic that perfectly complements the room’s natural palette.

Designed with practicality in mind, the wardrobe combines hanging space, shelving and drawers to provide versatile wardrobe storage for guests. An open shelving section, positioned beside the entry, offers the perfect opportunity to display books, artwork or decorative styling, while integrated LED lighting enhances both function and ambience.

The judges loved the space in terms of the feeling and the aesthetic. “This is nice and calm,” said Shaynna. “They know texture and layers. I love the matching brass tones throughout!” The did agree however, that it felt a bit safe and want to see the pair elevate for the rest of the home.

Modern Greige wardrobe doors paired with Brushed Satin Brass handles create a stylish builtin wardrobe.
Built-in wardrobe with timber-look interiors featuring hanging rails, drawers, and open shelving for organised clothing storage.

Chantel and Wyatt opted for understated elegance, pairing Freedom Wardrobes’ new Greige Matt doors with Nordic Oak Woodmatt internals to create a calm, contemporary retreat. The soft neutral palette captures this season’s quiet luxury trend, while brushed satin brass hardware introduces a subtle layer of sophistication.

Designed around symmetry, the wardrobe features hanging space on both sides with generous shelving and drawer storage through the centre, creating a practical yet beautifully balanced bedroom storage solution. Integrated LED lighting and premium Häfele Cassetti drawers complete the design with everyday convenience.

While overall the look was timeless and luxurious, it didn’t hit the brief for the judges who were concerned that the design isn’t suitable for Mt Eliza. A quick reset and slight pivot are bound to get this pair back on track!

House 3: Courtney & Sev

Score: WINNERS!

Place: 26/30

Built-in wardrobe with a neutral colour palette and timber-look finish, complementing the contemporary bedroom interior.

Courtney and Sev claimed the first room win of the season with a guest bedroom that perfectly captured the quiet luxury brief. Their built-in wardrobe combines the softness of a neutral palette with the warmth of Nordic Oak Woodmatt internals, while the Sense Mini D Handle in Brushed Dark Brass delivers a timeless finishing touch.

Following Darren Palmer’s feedback about designing for the Mt Eliza market, Sev quickly realised her original concept needed a dramatic rethink. Initially planning a darker, moodier interior, she pivoted towards a lighter, more timeless aesthetic – and the decision ultimately paid off as they came away with the win- and the opportunity to change to another house!

Walking into their bedroom all three judges immediately reacted- and in a positive way- to several of the design features including the ruched bedhead and curved timber ceiling feature. “This is so different from anything we’ve seen in the other houses,” said Alice. “10/10 for the effort and risk.”

Built-in wardrobe with timber-look interiors, showcasing organised storage with hanging rails, drawers, and open shelving.

Inside, the wardrobe delivers a thoughtful combination of hanging space, shelving and drawer storage, creating a practical solution that supports everyday living without compromising on style. Integrated LED lighting and Häfele Cassetti drawers ensure the interior is just as impressive as the exterior.

Place: 4th

Built-in timber-look wardrobe with bronze handles in a modern guest room, complementing the contemporary interior design.

Lisa and Rosco embraced warm timber tones with our new Sonora Oak Woodmatt doors and matching internals, creating a cohesive built-in wardrobe that feels both contemporary and coastal. Brushed bronze handles add depth while complementing the natural texture of the timber finish and the rest of the bedroom.

Configured with full and half hanging sections, soft-close drawers and integrated lighting, the wardrobe delivers generous bedroom storage that’s equally practical and visually appealing. The result is a welcoming guest space that balances style with everyday functionality.

While it wasn’t the winning space and the judges had a lot of feedback about the niche in the wall there was one standout feature- the wardrobe. “This is stunning- this is best thing in the room!” said Marty. Shaynna agreed adding. “This is luxury. I think that’s the point of difference. If you stand here and look at the handles, the Sonora Oak and look at the execution, it’s beautiful!”

Score: 17/30

Built-in timber-look wardrobe with black handles in a contemporary guest bedroom featuring a soft upholstered bedhead and neutral styling.

Rick and Tayla continued the season’s embrace of natural finishes, selecting Nordic Oak Woodmatt across both the wardrobe doors and internals for a seamless, relaxed aesthetic. Contemporary Gunmetal Ferrara Lip Pull handles introduce contrast while maintaining the room’s refined coastal feel.

Inside, a practical mix of double hanging space, shelving and drawers provides versatile wardrobe storage for guests, while integrated LED lighting and premium Häfele Cassetti drawers ensure every centimetre works harder.

Unfortunately a combination of running out of time and design choices that didn’t appeal to the judges impacted their score last night. However, their Freedom Wardrobe was a standout feature in the space. “The wardrobe. I’m loving the beautiful timber,” said Shaynna.
