Reno Rumble tugged at our heart strings last night as two deserving families received equally amazing kitchen transformations.
Inspired by Freedom Kitchens, House Captains for the Red Team – Hayley & Jimmy and John & Lisa on the Blue Team share insights to their designs in our exclusive video interview:
And what do the homeowners really think of their new kitchens?
Kate & Chris on their Contemporary Classic kitchen by Hayley & James:
Kate & Chris described their original kitchen as small with little storage space, featuring apple green benchtops and a brown tiled splashback! Enter Reno Rumble’s House Captains, Hayley & James, who super-sized kitchen to reveal an entertainer’s dream space that beautifully balances colour and texture.
Featuring on trend materials of timber, marble, stone and copper accents, it was the storage solutions that were the ‘wow’ factor according to Chris — they are in abundance with the pull-out pantries, corner carousels and rows of internal drawers — which is a clever way to achieve a symmetrical finish with a highly practical storage solution.
The home chef in Kate is especially thrilled with the Inalto wall mounted double oven feature, generous Caesarstone clad benchtops and functional flow around the central island.
“We love casual entertaining, and enjoying conversations with the kids whilst dinner is being made. All of this was not possible previously. This new kitchen will keep us connected as a family as we will spend so much time there in the years to come.” Judges Colin & Justin are in agreeance that the breakfast bar was an ideal addition, working well for this family home.
David & Christine — Contemporary Modern Kitchen by Blue Team’s John & Lisa:
Having put up with a dated, non-functional kitchen for years, David & Christine longed for an open plan space that connected to the outdoors for easy entertaining with friends and family.
But she certainly didn’t expect the incredible design by John & Lisa! Handle-less throughout, the fresh glossy colour palette of Graphite and White has resulted in a sleek, modern kitchen with soft close drawers and little surprises like the integrated bin and dishwasher.
Of the large 90cm Inalto Gas Cooktop and Oven, Christine could not be happier. “Now I can bake a 6kg whole snapper! I also do a lot of catering for non-profit organisations so just being able to cook many dishes at the same time is so much easier.”
It is the long central island which is the hero of the room, serving as the ideal preparation and gathering spot for this busy household. Clad in Caesarstone Calcatta Nuvo, Christine says, “the benchtops maintain a clean, fresh appearance all the time even when I’m cooking for a crowd! It is just a joy to wake up in the morning and walk into this beautiful environment and make a coffee and then just look around me and be inspired”.
Tune in to Reno Rumble this week for another exciting week of home renovations!
