Shelley Craft explores each of the Freedom Kitchens on The Block.

It’s often said that kitchens sell houses, and with six incredible kitchens delivered this season it’s easy to see why. Co-host and interior designer Shelley Craft met with each of the couples to take an up-close tour of their amazing spaces and discover all their favourite parts within their kitchens and butler’s pantries.

House 1.  Tom & Sarah-Jane

Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Design.

Tom and Sarah-Jane’s winning kitchen celebrates a contemporary twist on the popular farmhouse style.  “We designed the kitchen in Week 2, but I did it with the support of Freedom Kitchens, Sarah-Jane explains. Harley [our designer] was amazing and he helped me design the perfect country kitchen, and they just delivered!”

The kitchen’s colour palette balances grey, timber, marble, and a mixture of various metallic accents with many standout features including a central island bench, Shaker-style Sierra doors in Oyster Grey, Ilve Majestic Cooker with Copper knobs, and a rose gold Fhiaba fridge taking centre stage. Watch to discover the details of this winning kitchen and see how they came together.

House 2. Rachel & Ryan.

Contemporary Lodge Kitchen Design.

Welcome to House 2’s beautiful entertainer’s kitchen! “There’s nothing ‘Plain Jane’ about this kitchen,” exclaims Shelley. Watch as Ryan and Rachel explain their design decisions for their kitchen which they deliberately kept neutral to complement their luxe lodge-style living and dining area. “When you take a look, you can see there are so many details that work together, explains Rachel.

And it’s just so complimentary to everything else in the room.” From a hard-working cleaning zone, amazing Häfele Tandem Pantries, and a stunning island bench entertaining is a breeze, in this family-friendly space.

House 3.  Sharon & Ankur.

Showstopping galley-style kitchen design.

“If you really want to talk showstopping kitchens, my vote is for House 3, says Shelley. And it all starts with this 4.8-metre-long Caesarstone® Empira Black island benchtop- it is outstanding!”

With a focus on drama balanced with practicality, Ankur and Sharon designed their kitchen which celebrates black and copper tones, to be the heart of their home, connecting seamlessly with their open plan living and dining area.

A butler’s pantry sits behind the main kitchen space, filled with additional Ilve appliances and storage galore! “We sat down, and the beautiful people [at Freedom Kitchens] gave us some really good insights, says Sharon. It’s elements of trying to do something different, what’s right for the house, and trying to do something new!” Explore what made this kitchen stand out from the crowd.

House 4. Dylan & Jenny.

Green Country-inspired kitchen design.

Showcasing Freedom Kitchen’s new Sierra IV joinery in Dry Sage, Nordic Oak shelving, Caesarstone® Riverlet benchtops and new Brass Cup and Knob handles, this kitchen really is the quintessential country kitchen.

Both Dylan and Jenny came to Freedom Kitchens to design their kitchen, Dylan joking that it was one of two outings that he got to enjoy during the 3-month build on The Block! “I had to take him, laughs Jenny.

I think it was important to get the kitchen right as it’s the main hub of the home.” The couple were bold with their colour choices when it came to their joinery in our new colourway Dry Sage and brass hardware, as well as the feature Patina Brass Mesh inserts.

House 5: Omar & Oz.

Bold and modern kitchen design.

As the winners of the $250,000 Z-VUG and The Galley prize pack from Winning Appliances Omar and Oz were set to create a showpiece kitchen. They boys had a clear vision for what they wanted to achieve in their kitchen and butler’s pantry and worked with Freedom Kitchens to make it a reality.

A true entertainer’s kitchen, the pair focused on creating a space where friends and family could gather. Sleek, bold, and moody, the palette layers textures to create a warm and welcoming space, largely thanks to the Blackened Legno Chalk cabinetry and Caesarstone® Rugged Concrete benchtops. Watch the video below and fall in love with this kitchen all over again.

House 6: Scotty & team.

Modern Farmhouse.

“House 6, or Scotty’s house, is the ultimate in high-end modern country design, says Shelley. It’s packed full of fabulous features from Freedom Kitchens, Christian Cole and of course, Winning Appliances!” Shelley takes us through the kitchen and butler’s pantry that her co-host, Scott Cam, created with the intention of designing a space that would be the heart of the homestead he has been working on throughout the show.

The first thing that catches Shelley’s eye are Freedom Kitchens’ Shaker-style Sierra Black Matt doors, broadline glass cabinets and new Plate Racks. Paired with marble-look Caesarstone® Aterra Blanca, the kitchen feels both classic and modern. Press play to see this stunning kitchen in detail.
