Brimming with storage and style, the butler’s pantries on The Block 2022 were critical to the success of the main kitchens the blockheads designed with Freedom Kitchens. Acting as second kitchens, each pantry offered a wealth of additional storage, cooking and cleaning appliances and bench space to prep food. Each pantry design balances form and function beautifully, providing the perfect prep and cleaning spaces for homeowners who love to cook with family and entertain at home.

House 1 Pantry: Tom and Sarah-Jane
A galley-style butler’s pantry flows on from Tom and Sarah-Jane’s winning kitchen which earned a perfect 30/30 from the judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer, and Neale Whitaker. The colour scheme features a blend of grey, timber, bronze, and marble looks thanks to our Sierra Shaker -style cabinets in Oyster Grey with Brushed Antique Bronze Knob handles, and open shelving in Warm Madeira.
Caesarstone® Arabetto 20mm countertops provide ample prep space thoughtfully lit by LED Strip Lighting, while pantry organisation is thoughtfully designed through a mixture of drawers and cabinets to ensure plenty of storage space.
The perfect room for prepping and cleaning while entertaining, the pantry resembles a mini kitchen. Additional cooking appliances such as Ilve ovens and a microwave, plus a Vintec wine fridge on one side are complemented by a cleaning zone on the other, featuring an integrated dishwasher and bin.
The luxurious Häfele Le Manns Corner shelf system allows you to store heavy pots and pans in corner cupboards and the Häfele Dispensa Pull Out Pantry stow away kitchen items reached for the most.

House 2: Ryan & Rachel
Rachel and Ryan’s butler’s pantry is a natural progression of their main kitchen space, offering storage, additional appliances, and style in spades! Cora Amaro cabinetry provides the base of the light and bright colour scheme, with Solid Brass Knob in Dull Brushed Nickel handles adding to the look. Grey-toned Alpine Mist benchtops from Caesarstone® add depth and texture to the palette.
Pantry storage and organisation are maximised by a mixture of Häfele Tandem Pantries, cupboards, drawers, and open shelving. Cleaning up is a breeze thanks to the inclusion of a Ninka bin, sink and tap, and integrated dishwasher below the window. A Vintec 126 Bottle Wine Storage Cabinet, Ilve Compact Built-in Combi Steam Oven and Microwave from Winnings Appliances ensures that their butler’s pantry layout ticks all the boxes for a home chef.

House 3 Pantry: Sharon and Ankur
Sitting behind their main kitchen, Ankur and Sharon designed a butler’s pantry that caters to those who love to cook and entertain. Packed with additional cooking appliances, this is a pantry worth spending time in! Several Smeg appliances from Winning Appliances have been included within the design, with the Dolce Stil Novo Built-in Wine Cabinet and Sommelier Drawer a highlight.
Storage was maximised by a combination of open pantry shelving and closed joinery, while cleaning is also a breeze thanks to an additional sink, tap, and dishwasher. All these elements combine to allow the owner to hide away any mess from the main kitchen and the view of guests. Downlights and LED strip lighting have been used throughout the pantry design to highlight preparation zones, as well as the beauty of the Sierra IV Alabaster joinery, Nordic Oak shelving and Caesarstone® Empira Black benchtops.

House 4 Pantry: Dylan and Jenny
Two large windows allow for plenty of natural light in Dylan and Jenny’s stylish walk-in butler’s pantry. Open shelves and under-bench cabinets guarantee plenty of storage, while large spans of Caesarstone® Riverlet benchtops provide ample preparation space. The use of Sierra IV Dry Sage joinery with Hampton matte brass Cup and Knob handles connects the space with the couple’s adjoining country-inspired kitchen.
Sitting opposite the countertop, large banks of Shaker-style cabinetry offer further storage including tall pantries, as well as a section of cooking appliances. The additions of a Smeg wine cooler, built-in coffee machine, and built-in oven, plus an additional fridge, all from Winning Appliances elevate this pantry. The star of the show is the Häfele Dispensa Pull Out Pantry, that pulls out your most essential kitchen items, delighting any home cook.

House 5 Pantry: Omar and Oz
Mirroring the sleek, modern colour palette of their entertainer’s kitchen, Omar and Oz have created a butler’s pantry that is full of style and storage. A large sink and tip sit below a large window that overlooks the outdoors, bringing in plenty of natural light. An integrated dishwasher and Ninka Bin have been placed next to them, producing an effective cleaning zone within the room, while additional fresh produce storage is available with to the inclusion of a Ilve fridge.
Storage abounds thanks to the two impressive Häfele Mio Pull Out Pantries, which feature separate usable drawers that extend completely out of the unit for optimum functionality, providing the perfect place to store pantry staples. Freedom Kitchens’ 2020 Black Alumin Frame Shelves with Broadline Glass allow the natural light in while creating an area for styling focal points and organising pantry essentials.

Scott Cam, the host of The Block designed a butler’s pantry that complemented his show-stopping kitchen. His double Häfele Tandem Pantry opens to the perfect organised pantry with soft close drawers and baskets for all dry goods.
Classic shaker-style Sierra Matt Black cabinetry with Federation Capping- some featuring our new Perforated Metal Door Inserts- are the design hero of the space. Decorative matte black handles blend seamlessly with the dark tones of the joinery, contrasting beautifully against marble-look Caesarstone® Aterra Blanca countertops.
