A Bright and Bold Beachside Home Designed for Modern Living

Freedom Kitchens was delighted to partner with acclaimed interior designer and TV judge Darren Palmer to design the kitchen, butler’s pantry, walk-in wardrobe and entertainment spaces inside one of Yourtown’s newest prize homes. Located in the beautiful beachside suburb of Casuarina, NSW, nestled between Kingscliff and Cabarita, this stunning property is the perfect coastal retreat. Read on to discover the spaces, and how they were brought to life.

The Kitchen

The kitchen features a bold yet timeless palette with Impressions Nordic Oak kitchen cabinets setting the foundation of the overall aesthetic. There are plenty of standout design elements, including the 3.7 metre kitchen island bench, CDK Stone surfaces across the benches and splashbacks, and bronze metallic handles and hardware.

Not just beautiful, the galley-style kitchen is highly functional and thoughtfully designed to work for families or individuals who love to entertain. “This kitchen has the perfect layout for five-zone living,” explains Darren, referring to the five key zones in the design: food prep, cleaning, cooking, consumables and non-consumables.

The kitchen island is a great example of this approach, featuring bins, a dishwasher, sink and tap to create the ideal cleaning zone. “Look at all these bins,” exclaims Darren. “This is important to me, because you need to be able to sort your general rubbish, your plastics, your papers. This is the perfect set up there’s even a shelf for bin liners.”

Kitchen and pantry storage is abundant throughout the kitchen and the butler’s pantry, with Darren opting for plenty of drawers to maximise full access to cabinetry. The pantry also includes open shelving, a microwave, sink, tap and Ninka Bins for easy cleaning hidden away from the main kitchen zone.

Main Walk-in Wardrobe.

Main bedroom suite with walk-in wardrobe

Moving into the light and bright Main Bedroom Suite, the built-in wardrobe becomes a true standout. Nordic Oak appears again on the wardrobe doors, creating a seamless connection with the home’s broader palette.

A central island bench anchors the room and delivers valuable extra storage, while also offering a surface to style décor that brings personality and colour to the space. Two tall banks of cabinetry frame the island, offering a thoughtful mix of hanging space, soft-close drawers, open shelving and accessories such as Varano Clothes Lifts.

The wardrobe acts as a natural transition between the bedroom and the adjoining ensuite, with a large statement bedhead serving as a visual divider between the sleep zone and the dressing area. “The main suite is glorious!” says Darren. “Two people can easily be getting dressed together without getting in each other’s way, and it’s been designed so that there is space for everything and everything can be in its place.”

Entertainment Unit.

Large living room with TV and lounge

Beyond kitchens and wardrobes, Freedom Kitchens also creates cabinetry for other spaces throughout the home, from laundries, and home offices to living areas. In this project, our Nordic Oak cabinetry was featured in the living room, framing the TV. The soft timber tones of the joinery complement the surrounding wall treatments, adding warmth and texture while creating a cohesive, inviting space.
